How to DIY Your License Plate Frame in Under 5 Minutes

Installing a MakoAuto frame takes under 5 minutes, no tools beyond a Phillips-head screwdriver. Here's the full walkthrough.

What you need

  • MakoAuto TPU frame (included in any of our base frame orders)
  • 4 stainless steel anti-rust screws (included)
  • Phillips-head screwdriver (not included)
  • Your plate and your car

Install steps

  1. Unscrew your existing plate (keep the screws or use ours).
  2. Slot the plate into the TPU frame from behind — it snaps in place.
  3. Line up the four mounting holes with your car's plate bracket.
  4. Screw in the four stainless steel screws. Don't overtighten — the TPU is soft on purpose.

Adding and swapping charms

Every charm has a standard shoe-charm peg on the back (same as the ones that fit on Crocs). Push them into any open slot on the top or bottom border of the frame. To swap, pinch the charm from behind and pull it out. It takes about two seconds per charm.

Care tips

TPU is soft, shock-absorbing, and waterproof. Rinse the frame with water if it gets dirty. Avoid solvent-based cleaners — they can discolor the material over time.
